Game of Thrones Final Season – 14 Facts And Theories

Theory: Drogon, Daenerys last surviving dragon, will die in the last episdoe

This Theory is based on two different arguments. The first one is simply logical if Daenerys is going to die and be taken off the throne, her dragon has to die as well. The second argument is based on the history of Daenerys dragons and the correlation to between their given names and the figures who inspired those names. Daenerys’ first dragon to die was Viserion after the Night King threw and javelin at him, spiking his neck and killing him. Later the Night King turned Viserion into a White Walker, turning him to his side.

Viserion was named after Viserys, Daenerys older brother from season 1. Viserys was killed by having molten gold poured on his face, as a “crown”, after he showed his true face of a power-hungry dictator, willing to sacrifice his sister in order to the throne. Viserion dies and then resurrected and turned by the Night King, a fitting death to a dragon named after a power-hungry figured, who died by his “crown”.

Daenerys’ second dragon, Rhaegal, died by Euron Greyjoy fleet and their deadly Scorpion bolts, piercing his chest. Rhaegal was named after Rhaegar, Daenerys oldest brother, and Jon Snow’s father. Rhaegar also died by a blow to the chest, as Robert Baratheon struck him during the Battle of the Trident.

That leaves us with Daenerys’ last surviving dragon, Drogon, named after her late husband, Khal Drogo, the former leader of the Dothraki. Drogo died after fighting for his wife honor, winning is opponent but suffering an infected wound, which killed him a few days after the fight. Some speculate that Drogon will die similarly, mirroring his namesake’s death after he’ll suffer from a wound he either got during the battle in King’s Landing or will get during the season finale.
