Lionel Andres Messi Cuccittini is believed to be the greatest Argentinian football player since Diego Maradona. Messi has only played for one professional club, Barcelona, and with them, he has gone on to claim 32 trophies which include nine La Liga titles, six Copa Del Rey titles and four Champions League medals. While accumulating those trophies, he set records for most goals scored in a calendar year, most goals scored in a single La Liga season, and most hat-tricks in the Champions League, among others. He has also won the Ballon d’Or award for best footballer a record-tying five times.

Messi has scored 399 goals for Barcelona in 434 appearances. He was won everything that can be won with Barcelona but has failed to emulate that success with the national team. The only honor he has won with the senior Argentinian squad came at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
