One-Ingredient Banana Ice Cream

Well, yes! Bananas can be delicious, creamy and rich ice cream all by themselves. No added sugar, dairy and gluten free, totally vegan! The pickiest guest will be pleased. Enjoy this healthy banana ice cream dessert recipe.

It all started a long time ago when I realized how many calories I consumed each summer without even knowing what exactly these calories contained.

I quit all store-bought sweets, including any kind of frozen treats, but a hot sunny day is just not the same without an ice cream!

And here I go. I seemed to try all Greek yogurt-berries-fruit combinations possible and there were some really worthy treats. But it never occurred to me that all ingenious is simple and that one banana could turn into rich satisfying ice cream.

Yes, I also used to think that a blended frozen banana would be no different from any other fruit – icy or flaky. But trust me on this one, it turns into perfect ice cream with creamy consistence so you just can’t tell it from any other gelato ice cream.

So how to make banana ice cream? It’s really simple. More simple than going to your closest store and buy any ice cream there. Yes! All you need is a couple of ripe bananas and a blender. Peel, cut, freeze, blend!

It turns to be super delicious all by itself, but if you’re into experimenting (hi soulmate!), you may add e.g. another ingredient or two like peanut or chocolate butter, honey, chocolate chips, cinnamon, cocoa powder or some nuts.

And also a quick tip before we start – always have some frozen bananas in the freezer. Hear me? Always! You never know when that ice cream craving may strike you. Forewarned is forearmed!
