Surprisingly, a whopping 164 hours are lost by drivers during the rush hour. The INRIX also pointed out that $2,291 was the cost incurred by drivers in Boston as a result of the traffic congestion. The average inner-city last city mile was estimated to be 11mph.

In Boston traffic turmoil, ride-hail services companies such as Lyft and Uber have contributed to the city’s traffic woes. This is because more people are using these services as opposed to mass transit. Public transportation is, of course, not ideal for everyone, as it may require you to wait in average around 15 minutes. The average distance people ride in a single public transportation trip is around 7%.
